This proposal references New Westminster’s first Chinatown by playfully adapting icons of Chinese-Canadian culture. The graphic language of Chinatown neon and the curious phenomenon of the fortune cookie are layered on the existing fire escape structure, creating a striking installation that whimsically animates the surrounding public realm.
